The first step is to fill out the form below! A complimentary trial lesson and consultation will provide the opportunity to assess compatibility, ask any questions you may have, and get a sense of my teaching style. If the student does not currently have access to a harp and decides to move forward with harp lessons, I will share information and recommendations on where to rent or purchase a harp. I will also be able to advise the type of harp I recommend based on the student’s size, level, age, and goals.
-
Yes! As long as you want to learn how to play the harp, I am happy to teach and guide you. While I do teach pre-professional students, I welcome anyone who is wanting to work towards playing the harp well!
-
That’s great! I primarily perform on pedal harp, but I play both. I teach some students who only want to ever play lever harp, and I teach some who are planning on transitioning to pedal harp.
-
I will be able to explain the differences between these types of harps and why students choose one or the other. If you are looking to rent a harp, you will likely be renting a lever harp. Elementary age students will also likely start on lever harp.
-
No! If you are coming to an in person lesson at my home studio, I have both a lever and pedal harp available.

“Kathryn has taught my daughter harp for 3 years now. She is an excellent teacher. Extremely patient and caring. Over that time we have seen a big improvement in my daughter's playing ability. Kathryn has also helped us find harps and goes out of her way to help advise on harp maintenance and helping with moving harps, etc.”

“I met Kathryn at the Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program in 2017, and I’m so glad I did! She is a great teacher, and someone I always feel comfortable going to with questions and inquiries. She has never made me feel any different than her students who plan to get a degree in harp, and has always met me where I am as a musician. I can’t recommend her enough for harp lessons!”
